Mom's present

My mom's birthday was a week ago. One of my aunt's came to visit yesterday, bringing her 'presents'. And they are beautiful.

The colours are brighter than what you can see on the pictures.

I have no idea of what these flowers are. I've never seen them before, but they are georgeous!

Purple one is my favourite.

If you know what they are, could you please let me know? Thanks.

I asked my Mom about the flowers and she said the last one might be a gloxinia. The second one might be also, but she wasn't sure of the first photo.

They are pretty!

WOW! Wow! These are beautiful flowers! I have no idea what they are. They look a little like members/related to the begonia family.

Gloxinia's in the last two..the first I'm not sure! So pleased that you popped into my blog!!
I shall certainly post some interesting species of wild birds that I see here in Arizona as I explore! :)NG

Hi guys! Thanks for your comments!

So... mystery flowers 2 and 3 are Gloxinias, my guess on mystery flower 1, as lynxie suggested, is that it is some kind of begonia...

Can't help with the ID, except to agree that the purple is beautiful--almost looks like velvet!

Beautiful flowers, Thanks for sharing
I really like the idea of your site, what a cool idea, and great way to meet and get guidance from people who already love birds, and bird watching..

I think they could possibly be Gloxinia. We have to grow them in greenhouses or conservatory as it is too cold outside. They are big bold and beautiful.

Mel,
The flowers are lovely and I just wanted to thank you so much for offering your condolences on the passing of my Grandpa.

Dear Mel,
Beautiful flowers. How nice that they are potted plants. Will you plant them outside in the gardens?
I am a huge fan of butterflies. I was wondering if you see many butterflies around you?

Hi Markus, Nina, Stacey, Cheryl, Susie and Sherry!

Markus, the colours are amazing! I couldn't capture the brightness but still, you get an idea of what they are ;)

Nina, it does look like velvet! It is amazing! the colour and the texture (to the eye) are something new for me (in flowers)

Stacey, thanks for visiting! It is a great way to meet really cool people with similar interests and learn from them :)

Cheryl, we are in the middle of the summer, so, no green house needed ;)

Susie, I send blessings for you and your family, I know how fond of your grandpa you were and I believe you should never change that, you are a part of him, therefore he's still around. Smile and remember the good times together. The biggest KISS for you!

Sherry, I don't know if mom has plans of planting them, weather here is too hot and they need some shade that we don't have, it is an open space with a lot of sun and no trees :(
I see butterflies while walking on parks and some green areas, my favourite is a bright blue, kind of turquoise, BIG, about 10 to 12 cm with wings open: MORFO BUTTERFLIES (Mariposas Morfo) I saw them close to the rainforest a few years ago, it is amazing to see a big beautiful creature flying around you!

Hi Mel,
Your first flower is a Begonia. They come in all different sizes and colors. Yours is one of the big and colorfully flowered ones that I have outside during the summer. They do well in shady places.

Ruthie!! You are right, and they are so bright and beautiful, I just LOVE them!
